Did you know there are swan boats in Los Angeles?
Yes, in the middle of traffic, the 2 freeway and 5 freeway, there lies a little lake called Echo Park Lake. This park is dog-friendly (on-leash only) and you can have a sweet afternoon here in the sun with swan boats and the beautiful view of the city skyline.
Because the entire park is surrounded by a chain link fence, you don’t have to worry about your dog accidentally running out into the street. But watch the geese. Weston + Fira love chasing them but the geese do hiss back!

I was so happy to find out the swan boat rentals are dog-friendly! It’s best to buy a ticket first ($11 for one hour) and book a designated time. They’re not too strict about the time so you can show up a bit earlier or even later. I showed up half an hour early and got a rental right away.
Fira + I both put our life vests on and we were ready to go! Side note: they don’t require your dog to wear a life vest—just make sure they will be okay on the boat and practice safety.
It was so relaxing pedaling around and enjoying the slight mist coming from the fountain. This lake isn’t one for swimming but it’s super cute to watch the geese + ducks and let the pups enjoy.
