So when I saw ChefPaw, I was very intrigued. It looks super sleek, modern, and anything that claims to make homemade dog food easier, healthier, and customizable? Count me in! Here’s my honest ChefPaw review and everything you should know before buying.
ChefPaw dog food maker machine review

The machine itself feels heavy-duty and is actually quite impressive. It’s a real food appliance that weighs, cooks, and blends fresh dog food from start to finish. ChefPaw also comes with a ton of recipes with all varieties of protein, veggies, and more.

ChefPaw at a Glance

Best for: Dog owners who regularly make homemade dog food

Price: $549

Batch size: Up to 6 lbs

Cook time: About 40 minutes

Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.8/5)

My verdict: If you already make homemade dog food, ChefPaw is one of the easiest ways to save time without sacrificing ingredient quality.

Testing the ChefPaw Dog Food Maker

For my first batch, I chose an Allergy-Free recipe made with turkey, sweet potatoes, broccoli, pumpkin, rice, chia seeds. After roughly chopping the ingredients, I threw everything into the machine. The cool part is the built-in scale. It guided me through each ingredient, telling me exactly how much to add, so there was very little guesswork and no need for measuring cups. Super easy to use!

Once all the ingredients were in, I locked the lid and started the machine. Just a press of a couple buttons and it does all the work in just 40 minutes. It has a soft whirring sound while it’s blending and cooking, similar to a dishwasher, but it’s quiet enough that it wasn’t distracting. There’s also no splatter or steam escaping from the machine. ChefPaw even includes a self-cleaning cycle, although I found it quicker to just wash the removable bowl in the sink.

The finished food comes out soft and well blended, almost like a purée, making it easy to mix with kibble or serve on its own. It also smelled just like regular food, not dog food.

There’s an option to order the Vitality Pack with ChefPaw, which I recommend. It includes Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil and the Nutrition Booster, which adds all the supplements to make this dog food complete and balanced. I just mixed those in at the end and it was ready to serve!

If you make homemade dog food on a regular basis, this makes the entire process so much easier. It’s kind of like an Instant Pot for dog food—just add your ingredients, press a button, and it handles the the rest. At $549, it’s definitely not cheap, but after using it, I was really impressed with the quality. The machine feels incredibly solid and well-built, and it’s something I’ll be using for years.

Is ChefPaw more cost-effective than other dog food options?

If you’re currently spending hundreds of dollars each month on fresh dog food deliveries, ChefPaw could pay for itself over time, especially if you have a larger dog. It cooks up to 6 pounds of fresh dog food in about 40 minutes, and the cost can be as low as $1.80–$3.00 per lb. I also like that you’re in complete control of the ingredients, so you can customize recipes to your dog’s needs.
