Carrot Pupcakes for Your Dog
Carrot cake but make it dog-friendly! đĽđ§ These carrot pupcakes are the perfect treat for your pupâsoft, lightly sweet, and made with simple, dog-safe ingredients. Bonus: they smell amazing while baking!
Can dogs eat carrots?
Carrots are a great snack for dogsâtheyâre low in calories, high in fiber, and packed with vitamins like A and K. They help support eye health, digestion, and even act as a natural teeth cleaner when given raw. I use them in a lot of my recipes, like my Most-Loved Healthy Homemade Dog Food and Dog-Friendly Chicken Meatballs.
You’ll need:
- ½ cup canned pumpkin puree
- ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
- ½ cup water
- 1 egg
- ½ cup fresh shredded carrots (make sure to shred them yourself; pre-shredded carrots will be very dry)
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
Here’s how to make dog-friendly frosting:
- ½ cup plain greek yogurt
- Âź cup smooth peanut butter
Whip together til creamy & fluffy!
I made some carrot shavings with a vegetable peeler and added on top for an extra flair. Bonus: you can sprinkle some crumbled dog treats on top! Makes them extra tasty and pretty.
The carrot cakes can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Enjoy!
Carrot Pupcakes for Dogs
Ingredients
- ½ cup pumpkin puree
- ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
- Âź cup water
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- ½ cup fresh shredded carrots
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp coconut oil melted
- 1 tsp baking powder
Frosting
- ½ cup plain greek yogurt
- Âź cup peanut butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Mix all ingredients in bowl.
- Grease a standard muffin pan with cooking oil spray. Pour batter into the 12 muffin cups. They should be half full.
- Bake 25 minutes.
- Mix yogurt and peanut butter to make a creamy frosting and spread on top of the pupcakes!
